Any given year, there are more Bollywood films soaked in romantic drama that hit the marquee than any other genre. Turns out the scenario ain’t very different off the camera either.

Hindi film actors continue to make news for their linkups and breakups and 2014 only saw an upswing surge in this regard. While Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli finally came out in the open to declare their affection for each other — after providing more than enough hints that they are in a steady relationship — there are some couples still stuck with the eternal we-are-good-friends stand. We guess they will be out and about next year. Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli
Lowdown: Earlier this year when rumours about Anushka and India’s leading cricketer started doing the rounds, the two decided to keep mum. Eventually the couple was spotted together on film sets as well as overseas where the Indian squad was playing. Now, however, the lovey-dovey couple have admitted to seeing each other.
Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone
Lowdown: The speculation about their alleged romance started last year. Initially, the duo did drop some hints about their on/off screen chemistry, but later decided to keep mum. Earlier this year, her surprise visit to him on the sets of his film abroad raised eyebrows. The candid pictures of their private party were also leaked some time ago, again fuelling the rumour mill.
Arjun Kapoor and Sonakshi Sinha
Lowdown: Buzz about their close friendship began after they started working together in Tevar and especially after they were spotted together at movie screenings. Arjun maintains that Sona is a co-star now, but a friend and neighbour even before she started acting. Regardless, the buzz is yet to die down.
Lisa Haydon and Varun Dhawan
Lowdown: Ever since Lisa was seen having a gala time with Varun at a party, eyebrows were raised about their bonding. Later the starlet denied the buzz and went on to state that Varun was engaged. This was followed by a barrage of tweets after she realised her folly and said that Varun was not engaged, but they aren’t dating.
Karan Singh Grover and Bipasha Basu
Lowdown: Karan is making his big screen debut with Bipasha in the horror flick Alone. There was buzz about the two as soon as Bips broke up with Harman, During the first look launch of their film, they gave enough signs about their bonding.

Freida Pinto and Dev Patel
Lowdown: The LA-based Hollywood couple met during the filming of the Oscar-winning film Slumdog Millionaire. This was almost six year ago. As of now, the duo has decided to call it quits. Though the exact reason of their split is not known, it has been reported that the actress has moved on and was seen celebrating her 30th birthday with Siddharth Mallya two months ago.
Hrithik Roshan and Sussanne Khan
Lowdown: News about Hrithik and Susanne’s marriage being in trouble was doing the rounds for a while though the couple declared they were separating last year. The couple officially filed the papers this year and were granted divorce last month. Ever since the actor became single again, his name has been linked to various actresses.
Tanishaa Mukherjee and Armaan Kohli
Lowdown: These TV couples drew closer to their respective partners thanks to a reality show last year. And as expected, both the couples broke up with their respective partners. Tanishaa and Armaan never opened up about their bonding nor separation. On the other hand, Gauahar and Kushal proposed to each another on the show. Currently, they are said to have gone their separate ways.

Lowdown: The gossip about Karan and Jennifer’s strained relations did the rounds a long time ago. However, both of them refuted it time and again. Finally, Karan declared it on his microblogging site that they are indeed filing for a divorce and are not living together. Reports suggest that apparently Karan’s co-star Bipasha Basu was the cause of their separation, but Karan prefers to keep mum.
Pooja Bhatt and Manish Makhija
Lowdown: Pooja Bhatt gracefully announced the end of her 11-year old marriage to Manish on a microblogging site recently. The actress did not blame anyone or anything but said that it was amicable partition and they still hold each other in high esteem. The couple was said to have been living separately for a long time. Pooja used to stay in Mumbai while Manish stayed in Goa for his business.
Bipasha Basu and Harman Baweja
Lowdown: Post her break up with John Abraham, Bips started seeing Harman. It was during the promotion tour of his film that Harman confessed that he is in love with the Bengali bombshell and they are planning to get married. In fact, she took to her microblogging site to announce it. However, they chose to go their ways after they were linked to different people.
