The shooters Haji Gulam Ahmed, Afzal and Suleman were nabbed with three pistols and 18 live rounds, confirmed ATS Additional Commissioner Param Bir Singh.
Investigations have indicated that they were planning to gun down some informers, most likely from the rival Chhota Rajan gang.

The attack was planned by Shakeel's right-hand man Arif Mirza Baig, a key shooter from the Feroz Konkani faction of the Dawood Ibrahim gang.
Officials believe that some informers tipped members of Rajan's gang, which resulted in the elimination of key bookie Chhote Mian.
Rajan is known to cripple finances of rival gangs by attacking their key members. Chhote Mian was considered a moneybag for D Company, informed police sources.

Shakeel's gang members have already killed three informers in the past 18 months, including Salim Langda and Afzal Chindi.
At least three other gangsters were injured in shootouts across the city in the past six months.
