The musician on performing live on October 18 for the second edition of Canvas Live
1. You are going to be performing today as part of Canvas Live. What’s going to be the highlight of your performance?
I am going to be performing new songs from my new album. This will be the first time Mumbaiites will be hearing these songs. My second album (still unnamed) has a lot of songs that are collaborations with different artistes. Each song is different and is from a different genre. The only thing that is common in all the songs is my voice and my acoustic guitar. The album sounds like a mixed tape.
2. How long have you been working on the album? When is it slated for release?
The album will be hopefully releasing in December. We had 11 songs in the album, but I just dropped four of them. So now we are down to seven. I hope we are able to complete one more song by November and then it can be released. I worked on my first album for almost six years and I have been working on this for a year and a half. I have performed at a large number of festivals in India and abroad and have done nearly a 1,000 concerts, 500 of them in the last six years. I wanted the maturity to show in this album. The fact that we have grown and have travelled should come across in the album.
3. You have been performing since you were 19, how has the journey been so far? Do you feel you have achieved what you started out to do?
No, not at all. I feel we are headed in the right direction but still have a lot to do. The idea is do keep doing what you need to do. It has in a sense been a great journey with lots of ups and downs. Lots of great moments, have met some incredible people. I’ve earned a loyal fan base. My music is what it is because of all the musicians I have collaborated with. The credit goes as much to them as to me.
