In a freak accident, four youth lost their lives after their car rammed into a tree at Palm Beach road yesterday morning. The accident took place around 6 am, while they were returning home from a party at a bar in CBD Belapur.

According to Senior PI Rajkumar Chapekar of Nerul police station, the boys were coming towards Vashi when the accident took place.

"The car was moving at a very high speed. The driver of the vehicle seems to have lost control over the wheel at Palm Beach road before he rammed the speeding vehicle into a tree."

Soon after the accident, locals called up the police and rushed the youth to a local hospital, where they were declared dead on arrival. The deceased have been identified as Nilesh Bhatt (21), a resident of Sector 15 in Vashi, Rakesh Chauhan (20), a resident of Kamothe, Sunny Sharma (22) and Karamveer Singh (18), both residents of Koparkhairane.

Police said that Chauhan was behind the wheel when the accident took place.
