Sanjay Mistry (35), a suspected case of H1N1, died last night; reports expected today
Sanjay Mistry (35), a suspected case of H1N1, died in Pune's Sassoon Hospital at 11.30 pm last night and his reports are awaited from the National Institute of Virology.
If the reports are positive, this will be the sixth H1N1 death in Pune and the fourth in the last 48 hours, while the death toll across the country has reached 12.
Mistry, a clerk in Pune, was admitted to the hospital in a critical condition on Sunday evening with symptoms of viral fever, breathlessness, headache and cough.

Critical condition
Before being shifted to Sassoon Hospital, Mistry was being treated for pneumonia at Niramaya Hospital for two days, where he was on oxygen, but his condition deteriorated. Doctors then, advised to shift him to Sassoon Hospital for a swine flu test.

Hours before his death, MiD DAY spoke to his elder brother Yaswant. "The test was conducted on Sunday, but we are yet to receive his reports.
There is no fan in the ward and the hospital condition is bad," he said.
At 11.30 pm, when the reporter contacted Yashwant, he was not aware of the loss, and hospital authorities were searching for the family to claim Mistry's body.
Doctors said, "We cannot confirm if Mistry was H1N1 positive, but he did have swine flu symptoms."
