Ramdev's disciples who are already active in two different forums namely the Bharat Swabhiman Trust and Patanjali Yoga Samiti have formed this third forum- PNS, to contest the upcoming PMC elections in order to clean the present political scenario in the city.
u00a0PNS Chief Coordinator Vijay Warudkar said, "Our preliminary arrangement of inviting candidates for the elections is on and we are hoping for a good response from the citizens." Reportedly, from November 7 to 20, the PNS would be inviting entries of candidates with a detailed bio-data. After verification, a list of candidates will be shortlisted for an interview.
The forum has been forming a special advisory committee for interviews that will be conducted between November 28 and 30. The final list of candidates will be announced by December 8. "The list for the advisory board is long and we are getting official confirmation from them soon. We are planning to field about 50 candidates on behalf of PNS for the PMC elections scheduled in February 2012," Warudkar added.u00a0
u00a0Reportedly, the advisory list includes retired IAS officer Arun Bhatia, Capt Jayant Chitale (Rtd), former IAS officer Avinash Dharmadhikari, former city police commissioner Jayant Umranikar and social activists Vishwambhar Chaudhari, Vivek Velankar and Maruti Bhapkar among others. Ramesh Agarwal, PNS coordinator said the process of shortlisting candidates would be very stringent and the final candidates will be promoted based on the unanimous opinion of the advisory committee. "It shall be our moral responsibility to field better candidates for voters in Pune, the way Baba Ramdev has recommended," added Agarwal.u00a0
Warudkar said that Baba Ramdev would address the shortlisted candidates during his brief visit between December 10 and 12. "He has taken an initiative indirectly by forming PNS and promoting clean candidates to change the present political system," he added. Pune is the first city where PNS candidates would be contesting.
First candidate
Sachin Dnyeshwar Nagine (29) a resident of Upper Indira Nagar, Dhankawadi has already approached the PNS executive members and expressed desire to contest the election from Ward No 72. Nagine is BA in Economics and has also completed his MBA. "I want to become an efficient and honest mediator between citizens and government, as I feel lot of government schemes do not reach out to the people," he said.
