The matter came to light when the nonagenarian Govind Ram's neighbours informed police last night of stench emanating from his house. According to police, the man is 'mentally unsound' and had been living with the body of his wife, Gopi, in their one-room flat in Kalkaji.
According to Huffington Post India, when police entered the flat, they saw that the apartment was poorly maintained. While Ram was lying on the bed, his wife's decomposed body was on the floor. The state of the body revealed that she had died a few days ago.
The autopsy was conducted on the body and any possibility of foul play has been ruled out
The official said the exact cause of the death will be known after the post-mortem report is received.
