People who share the same job profile as yours can often prove to be key players in your life, even outside the workplace. Ideas, issues, opportunities and grievances are best shared with those who can slip into your shoes with utmost ease, or better still, are already wearing a similar pair. This is the philosophy that drives BPO Sutra, a young group that aims to bond those serving in the outsourcing industry.

The community caters to the three categories of people in the call centre life those who want to join a BPO, those already working with the industry, and those associated with the industry, including family members of BPO employees and other eco-system participants. Here, you are free to seek help, exchange experiences, trade tips and give meaningful insights.

Of you, for you, by you

All activities of the gang are user-driven and facilitated through the online technology platform www.bposutra.com. The project covers the full life cycle of a BPO employee, from the time a person seeks a job to when he/she moves to another city, aspires for a promotion, changes job, and how he/she manages expectations of family and friends.

Say hello for help

The help is provided by four major teams Sutras: The authenticated knowledge base, Applications: Intelligent applications that help in career related decision-making, Wiki: User generated knowledge base, Mentorship: real person help through mentor-mentee relationships and an open group of BPO veterans to reach out to. The lifestyle support system applications, like Classifieds, cater to other essential needs, from finding accommodation and roommates to trading electronics in an environment where both the buyer and the seller are BPO-savvy.

Fultoo faayda

Once you're in the league, its becomes easy to enhance your career, find or become a mentor, add to the knowledge base, build your network and manage professional and personal commitments. You can sniff around for the best job, and find one almost effortlessly. Comparing, evaluating and asking for better salaries also becomes easier. The robust mentor-mentee framework enables you to get personalised help, irrespective of physical location. "The idea is great. I have been using this forum for sometime now, and has been really helpful," says Amarjyoti Ashrit, who works with a leading US-based BPO. The other stakeholders in the eco system parents, relatives and spouses of BPO workers are also welcome to join for better understanding.
