But, he still continues to live in a one-room apartment at Nalasopara. This is true not just for him but for many other Indian artistes, who do not get a percentage of the proceeds on subsequent sales of their works
There is no legislation in India, unlike in other countries, which stipulates the need to pay a small percentage of the proceeds in secondary sales to the artist. To highlight this, an exhibition titled Droit de Suite or art proceeds right is being held at the Clark House starting today.u00a0

At this exhibition, which includes works from a private collection, 20% of the sales price will be received by the artist AA Raiba. The exhibition also includes documents, laws and agreements that highlight the right of an artist in every subsequent resale or rental and The Artist’s Reserved Rights Transfer and Sale Agreement 1971. Raiba, who has a very unique style of painting on a prepared canvas made of jute, will be present with his family today to celebrate his 90th birthday.
