He's a chartered accountant who loves travelling, playing lawn tennis and watching movies. And we forgot to mention, he enjoys writing too. Meet the new kid on the block, Ahmed Faiyaz. Having recently released his first book Love, Life and All That Jazz, he's already preparing for a second one. He speaks to CS about what inspired him to write:

Write turn
Writing has always been my passion, even though I may work as a chartered accountant. The latter pays my bills, so I think I will continue doing what I do. I don't write for money. If the moolah flows in, it's great. And if it doesn't, I'll still keep writing.

Straight from the heart
This book is very close to my heart. The people around me became my inspiration for the book. We all go through difficult situations in lifeu00a0-- in college, in our jobs, our relationships etc. So it's easy to relate to the book. I have been in a relationship myself and have seen heartbreaks all around me. So, though a part of me is reflected in the book, a lot of it is observational and drawn from my imagination. After all, a writer is always great at imagination!u00a0

Read on
I have always been fond of reading. Haruki Murakami, Charles Dickens, James Fray are some of my favourite authors who have written about life and the society they're a part of. My book was a step forward to try and talk about my generation. I felt that the people around me need a voice and representation. You still have a lot of books about terrorism and about going to IIT and IIM and understanding your life there, but life is not so simple. This book is my take on it.

On a high
I'm excited about my upcoming book which is also about relationships. I have been heading to the mountains of Shimla or Mussorie to work on it because tranquil surroundings always inspire me. Basically, I'm having a blast!
