Bollywood actor Aamir Khan honoured tennis coach Tahir Ali on behalf of Cricket Club of India (CCI) at the CK Nayudu Hall on Saturday. Ali completed 25 years of coaching with the prestigious club.

Aamir recollected his stint with Ali. “He trained me for almost six months at Bandra Gymkhana before he was appointed the chief coach of the MSLTA. I asked my dad if I could train with him at Cooperage, but my dad decided that I should concentrate on my studies and discontinue tennis,” Aamir said.

He added: “I started playing tennis when I was 11 and stopped by 14. I was nuts about tennis but couldn’t continue playing it. I can’t thank Sir enough for whatever he has done to me and many such students who have became great players.” Aamir stressed on a teacher’s role: “It is the most important. If a teacher is not good, it can ruin a whole generation.”
