ACB registers case against ex-zilla parishad president

Sleuths of Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) have unearthed assets worth Rs 24.17 lakh belonging to a former president of Pune zilla parishad and his wife.

ACB officials yesterday registered a case against Devram Sakharam Lande (47) and his wife Alka, a school teacher posted at Junnar, and charged them with possessing assets disproportionate to their known sources of income.

ACB officials had recently initiated an inquiry against the couple and had inspected their income from 1996 to 2007.

According to ACB officials, their income is 132 per cent above their legitimate income. Police Inspector Vaishali More of the ACB conducted the inquiry.

Meanwhile, PI Shailesh Sankhe said that their investigation revealed that Lande has four properties at Junnar and one at Dighi near Pune.

Search operations and verification of other documents is ongoing, said an ACB official. u00a0
