Adam Griffith appointed Australia's bowling coach

Cricket Australia (CA) on Friday announced that Adam Griffith will join the national men’s team as bowling coach for the upcoming tour of the West Indies in June.

Melbourne: Cricket Australia (CA) on Friday announced that Adam Griffith will join the national men’s team as bowling coach for the upcoming tour of the West Indies in June.


Griffith played 50 first-class matches and 54 list A matches for Tasmania before retiring in 2011 and becoming West Australia's bowling coach.


Commenting on Griffith’s appointment head coach Darren Lehmann said: “We are excited to have Adam join the team for the tour of the West Indies.


“West Australia have some talented young fast-bowlers that have developed under Adam’s watch and it’s great to be able to offer him the chance to work with the Australian side under Justin
Langer.

“It’s a credit to the standard of our state coaching system to be able to offer these opportunities to young coaches and I am sure both Adam and the players will benefit greatly from this
experience.”

Griffith said he looking forward to the chance to work with the national team.

“The opportunity to work with Australia’s premium bowlers is incredibly exciting," he said.

“The West Indies and South Africa have some of the most destructive white ball batters in the world and preparing to play them in Caribbean conditions will be a great challenge.”

National Cricket Centre High Performance Coach Graeme Hick will also join the side as an assistant coach in the West Indies.

Hick, a former England international Test player, has worked at the National Cricket Centre for the past three years with a focus on working with young players coming through the pathway system.

The squad will depart for the Caribbean at the end of May, with Australia’s first match taking place in Guyana on Sunday 5 June against South Africa.
