Raja Shivaji spinner disappointed as Harris Shield encounter against Don Bosco (Matunga) ends in a draw despite his spectacular bowling performance

Aditya Doiphode's nine-wicket haul goes in vain

IES Raja Shivaji Vidyalaya’s (Dadar) left-arm spinner Aditya Doiphode finished with nine wickets (5-39 & 4-49) in a drawn game against Don Bosco (Matunga) in the second round of Harris Shield Elite Division inter-school tournament at Azad Maidan yesterday.

After Raja Shivaji posted 218 in the first innings, Aditya took five Don Bosco wickets to restrict them to 213. The Dadar school then scored 200 in the second essay, leaving the Bosco boys to get 206 for victory.

However, Aditya’s four-wicket haul ensured the Bosco boys were restricted to 172-9 in 47 overs. Opener Bhupen Lalwani (52) was the top scorer for the Matunga school.

Doiphode was disappointed that his fine bowling effort could not give his team victory. “It was a close match. The game could have turned either way as we had only a five-run first innings lead. We were just unlucky,” said the Class X student.

Meanwhile, in another Harris Shield tie, Rizvi Springfield (Bandra) tweaker Sidak Singh’s 5-75 helped the defending champions register an outright win over Hansraj Morarji (Andheri). Azim Shaikh, who finished with 4-49, ably supported Sidak.u00a0
