Asian Champion Aditya Mehta of India registered a thrilling win in the final qualifying round of the International Open snooker tournament being played here
With a lead score of 6-4, Mehta defeated Jamie Cope to book his place in the final stages of a main ranking event for the first time. With a strong opening break of 68, Mehta took the first frame and followed it with another one to go lead with 2-0 in the first session. Cope levelled up before the interval.
Keeping the score in his favour, Mehta won the fifth frame and by the seventh frame the score was 4-3. After losing one frame to Cope, Mehta bounced back putting pressure on his contender by winning the ninth frame. In the tenth frame, Cope led by 46 points, leaving Mehta a tough pot. Mehta potted it and sealed the match with a break of 76.
