Aditya Patel wins final race of Asia Series' Round 16
India's Aditya Patel gave a spectacular Indian finish to Round 16 of the JK Racing Asia Series (JKRAS) by finishing first in the final race of the season at the Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida
In Round 15, Akhil Khushlani finished second to ensure it was a twin podium finish for Indians across the two days of the JKRAS here.
Patel, who crossed the chequered flag amidst loud cheers from the stands overtook a troubled Aston Hare two laps from the end and maintained the lead till the end. “While I was leading the race, I said to myself that I shouldn’t make any mistakes. Even in the last lap, I gave it 100 per cent,” said Patel.
South Africa’s 16-year old Hare meanwhile clinched the championship winning three of the four races, ahead of front-running Nabil Jeffri and title contender Afiq Ikhwan (Meritus), both of whom retired after a collision in the eighth lap.
