With the Municipal Corporation elections round the corner, Delhi BJP is gearing up to receive senior party leader Lal Krishan Advani, at present on his Jan Chetna yatra, later this month in a grand welcome. The party leaders are assuming it as a trial run for preparations for the MCD elections.

"It is a chance to showcase the party's strength ahead of MCD elections, slated to be held early next year. It should be nurtured by every means," a senior party leader said. "L K Advani, in conclusion to his Jan Chetna yatra, will reach the national Capital on November 20.u00a0 He will enter from Ghaziabad, where thousands of BJP workers will join him from the Delhi-UP border," said Delhi BJP chief Vijender Gupta.

Motor cycle parade
Party sources told MiD-DAY that thousands of motor cycles will join Advani from the Delhi-UP border reach the historical Ramlila Maidan. Here he will address a big public meeting of BJP workers and the people of Delhi. Around one lakh people are expected to be there.

Party sources say the rath yatra would be welcomed at various places from Ghaziabad border to Delhi and local units are gearing up for the same. Though it is not final, a party source said, "A dozen of trucks are being arranged for, on which the party workers would perform on the way from Ghaziabad border to Ramlila Maidan. It would be like the tableaus that are prepared for Republic Day," said a senior party leader.

Trusted caretakers
The preparations for welcoming the yatra in Delhi are being monitored by senior party leader M Venkaiah Naidu, state BJP chief Vijender Gupta and party co-in-charge for the state Navjot Singh Sidhu and Ramesh Chaurasia.

Meeting agenda
Meetings were held on Sunday in west Delhi, while on Monday, senior party leaders met workers at Chandni Chowk, Keshav Puram, north-west Delhi, outer Delhi, Karol Bagh and New Delhi districts. On Tuesday, the party leaders will meet workers in south Delhi and north Delhi localities and east Delhi will be covered on Wednesday.
"For local leaders, it's a do-or-die situation. They have been told to make all efforts to make it a successful event. Those who fail have been warned to face the music," a Delhi BJP office bearer said.
