An emergency landing made by an Air India (AI) aircraft yesterday morning disrupted services at the city airport after the main runway was shut for over an hour.
AI flight 620 (Hyderabad-Mumbai) made the emergency landing at 7.30 am after its rear tyres emitted smoke. The flight landed on runway 09/27. Soon after it landed safely, 121 passengers and six crewmembers on board were evacuated thro-ugh the emergency passage.

Evacuation was executed using chutes, following which the aircraft was parked at bay A10. This is the fourth such incident to have occurred in March. “There was no issue with the tyre or the engine. It was just a false alarm,” said an AI spokesperson.
