World No 23 Jayaram lost his first round men’s singles match 14-21, 21-23 to local Yuekun Chen in 36 minutes, while Japan’s Sho Sasaki downed Mumbai's Pawar 12-21, 21-14, 21-16 in 55 minutes.u00a0
