'Gabbar Is Back' has been directed by famous southern director Krish and produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Viacom 18 Motion Pictures.

It features Akshay and Shruti Haasan, and is slated to release on May 1.

Akshay said he has always worked on different subjects and it was important to make a film on corruption.

"I have worked with Murugadoss who directed the original film 'Ramanna'. He had written the film 11 years back. I think still there is corruption and to stop corruption, it was a great way to do this film. I have always worked on different subjects and it depends on people what they pick up from his film," he said.
