Al-Barkaat in command in Giles Shield

Al-Barkaat MMI English School's (Kurla) spin duo of Abhishek Pandey and Rajesh Sardar took three wickets each to bowl out Rizvi Springfield (Bandra) for 211 on Day Two of the three-day Mumbai Schools Sports Association-Mumbai Indians Giles Shield Elite Division semi-final at Azad Maidan yesterday.

The Kurla school declared their first innings at 314-9. At close of play, Al Barkaat lead by 103 runs.u00a0Abhishek conceded 44 runs off his 25 overs, which included 13 maidens. While Rajesh was a bit expensive, giving away 50 runs in his 13.1 overs.

With just a day left, the chances of Kurla team moving to the final is almost certain, but coach Nafees Khan still wants to hold back the celebration. u00a0“Rizvi are a good team and they are capable of staging a comeback. So, we cannot afford to celebrate,” said Khan.

Meanwhile, Rizvi coach Raju Pathak said: “We dropped a few catches on Day One and they went on to score over 300. Also, our captain Satyalaksh Jain was injured, but I am happy with the way they played today.” u00a0
