Dear Diana,
My girlfriend thinks we ought to see other people. You see... we are in a long-distance relationship. Have been for two years. Before that, we were seeing each other for three years. I have just landed a great job and have rarely found time to call her or message her, of late. She's taking this rather badly and thinks I have fallen for someone else. While that's not true, she refuses to see reason and says she will only be convinced if I take time out to meet her. Believe me, I have tried to, but to no avail. This job offers great growth opportunities and an awesome pay package. I don't want to jeopardise that by insubordination. But I really love this girl and wouldn't see anyone else as my soulmate.

Vinod

Dear Vinod,
Assuming you work overseas (I see that as the only reason for your inability to make a quick trip to her city), there's no reason why you can't keep messaging her off and on, as and when you think of her. Then there's instant messaging, social networking websites and email. Why can't you make the effort to keep in touch, considering you have no dearth of options. Surely, your workload can't be that bad that you can't even drop her a line! Consider this. Whom are you working and earning so much for? What if she isn't by your side to enjoy the fruits of your labour? Sort out your priorities and take a day or two off to try and make her understand your problem. That way at least she'll be assured that her only competition is from your work.

Am I gay?

Dear Diana,
I am a 21-year-old boy. There's a best friend I have and we are always together. When he's away from me, I get very upset and when I'm away, he gets upset. I don'tfeel any attraction towards girls. Is this because we stay together or am I turningu00a0 gay? I don't want to turn gay. What should I do?

Vishal

Dear Vishal,
If you are attracted to other men and not women sexually or emotionally you just are. There's no fighting that. And besides, even if you are gay, how does that matter? Would you rather be unhappy, living a lie rather than accept that you're interested in guys. However, I cannot make that judgment. It is something you will have to figure out for yourself.

I'm scared she may be pregnant

Dear Diana,
I am 42. My wife is 40. We have two children. She had her tubes tied a year ago. Ever since, we have been having sex once or twice a week. And the going has been good until a week ago. She has been having stomach cramps, morning sickness and all this is scaring me. We don't want to have any more children. What should we do?

Name withheld on request

Dear Friend,
I think you should get your wife to a doctor immediately. He/She may suggest a gynaec, whom you should visit promptly for a more detailed diagnosis It could be any sort of illness that could be manifesting itself and you should seek medical attention. I doubt it has anything to do with a pregnancy scare. It wouldn't hurt to get a more informed opinion though, no?
