Dr Nevill R Devlaliwalla & Paawan R Seksaria's proud property, four-year-old An Acquired Taste, produced a sensational gallop at the Pune racetrack yesterday when he won the Grade 1, Signature Premier Indian St Leger by an unbelievable margin of nine-and-a-half lengths.

An Acquired Taste annihilates his rivals

Jockey Sandesh, who rode the winner, settled him in fourth place as Roswald and Borsalino cut the early pace several lengths ahead of the rest. As the front-running duo started losing steam after travelling the first 2,000m of the gruelling 2,800m trip, a supremely confident Sandesh only lightly nudged the Altamash Ahmed ward who effortlessly assumed command at the top of the homestretch when all his rivals were already off the bridle and getting nowhere.u00a0

In an incredible display of raw horsepower, An Acquired Taste then lengthened his strides and ran away from his hapless rivals, crossing the winning post in solitary splendor, virtually a street ahead of the rest. The Hyderabad champion Tintinnabulation (PS Chouhan up) claimed the runner-up berth, two lengths ahead of Wind Stream (Suraj Narredu up).

The one crore club
An Acquired Taste made his owners richer by another Rs 3.5 million. With today’s win, which was his eighth victory from 15 starts, the galloping gold mine also crossed the Rs 1-crore mark for total stake money earned.u00a0
