The Guide gives you the lowdown on the Raja Paranjape Festival which will be held in Pune
April 20 marks the birth anniversary of the late actor-director Raja Paranjape and hence, the Raja Paranjape Pratishthan has been organising a festival in his honour over the last four years. The Tarunai Sanman will be awarded on April 14, which will also mark the opening of the Raja Paranjape Festival.

Renowned director, film producer, cinematographer and screenwriter Govind Nihalani has been selected for the Raja Paranjape Sanman, while young stars such as Bela Shende (singer), Sandeep Khare (lyricist), Ravi Jadhav (director), Usha Jadhav (actress) and Sanjay Jadhav (cinematographer) have also been conferred with the Raja Paranjape Tarunai Sanman.
Archana Rane, president of the Pratishthan and the granddaughter of Paranjape, said that the event is held as a mark of respect for the legendary Raja Paranjape. The festival this year will include Classical and semi-Classical music, Natyasangeet, Abhanga and songs from the film of Raja Paranjape such as Lakhachi Gosht.
There will also be screenings of some of Paranjape’s famous films such as Lakhachi Gosht, Oon-Paus, Ha Maza Marga Ekala, Pedgaonche Shahane and Jagachya Pathivar at the National Film Archives of India (NFAI) at Prabhat Road.
Various programme will be presented by performers such as Chaitanya Kulkarni, Prajkta Ranade, Kalyani Pande-Salunkhe, Shreyas Badve, Sanjeev Mehendale, Sampada Thite and Shreyas Badve among others.
