The inviting vibe and cool, cosy ambiance of Spill The Beans will tempt; however, more variety and some oomph in its food menu might be a good idea to stay ahead of the close competition

By now, Oshiwara has become a haven for foodies with options galore, from fine dine to dessert stops, cafés and lounge bars. Hence, it’s no rocket science to fathom the levelu00a0of competition amongst them, to attract maximum footfalls. In such a scenario, when we spotted Spill The Beans, a small café, sandwiched between eateries on both sides, we knew it would have to jostle for not just space, but also attention.

Attracted by the lofty glass door and a yearning for a caffeine kick after a long, exhausting day, we went into indulge mode. The aesthetic interiors, mezzanine floor with colourful walls and the vibe, started off things nicely. Since the rain gods were not in a mood to relent, we found a cosy corner upstairs. First up we called in for a Café Latte (R65) and an Iced Mocha Frappe (R90) topped with Vanilla Ice Cream (R25). Our coffee delights were served in no time and gave us the right caffeine fix. The latte was a hot cup of frothy coffee, less bitter and appropriately milky and the frappe was one of the best we’ve had in a long time with no going overboard with the sugar and a seamless blend of coffee, milk and ice cream.

Satisfied with our cuppas, we were keen to test the food. We asked for a Paneer Schezwan Roll, but due to its unavailability, we settled for a Pan Pizza (Rs 40) instead; it was a small, square pizza slice, with oodles of cheese and some veggies — a smart side order option with your coffee.

For a quick bite, the Pan Pizza is an ideal option

Finally, the delicious-sounding list of pastries tempted us to take a shot, as we turned a blind eye to the calorie-meter. However, the Blueberry Cheese Cake wasn’t available, and we had to make do with only the two kinds of brownies that were on offer. Not left with too much choice, we opted for the Walnut Brownie (Rs 50) with a dollop of Vanilla Ice Cream (Rs 25).

Although, the cheese cake was hovering in our minds, the walnut brownie and ice cream, managed to fulfill our sweet desires. On the whole, with its reasonable pricing and pleasing décor, Spill The Beans has the potential to become a popular hangout; now, if only they would spruce up that menu.
