Colombo: Sri Lanka captain Angelo Mathews was yesterday ruled out of the fifth and final one-international and the two Twenty20 Internationals against Australia due to a calf injury. Mathews suffered the injury during the fourth match that took place on Wednesday.

He had hobbled off the field during his innings and, though he returned to bat towards the end of the innings, had been substantially hampered by the injury. “Angelo’s MRI and clinical symptoms are both consistent with a medial calf muscle injury. He is not expected to be available for the remainder of the series,” Sri Lanka Cricket statement said.
