Anil Yadav of Sports Authority of India struck gold in the boys U-18 1500m event of the Mumbai Suburban District Athletic Championships at the Sports Authority of India on Saturday wearing a borrowed pair of spikes.
Anil was challenged at the beginning of the race by Bipin Yadav of KES Jr College, but ran clear soon after the halfway mark clinching gold in 4 minutes, 33.06 seconds, with Bipin finishing a distant second clocking 5:08:00 secs and Mohd Bilala Molvi of St John Universal School winning bronze with a timing of 5:20.09 secs.

Meanwhile, Manjit Singh (53.1s) of Matoshree SC and Sushmita Patil (61.6s) of Vissanji SA clinched gold in the boys and girls U-16 400m final respectively.u00a0
