Jalandhar: Amidst the ongoing stir over alleged incidents of holy book sacrilege, a similar case today surfaced from Kadiyana village here, following which the accused was immediately nabbed.

"A case of sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib came into light from a Gurudwara in Kadiyana village of Adampur area. Locals immediately nabbed the culprit, Avtar Singh. After which police arrested him," SSP (rural) Harmohan Singh said. When police along with the accused did not reach the police station, hundreds of protesters reached there, sources said.

Meanwhile, Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee member Paramjit Singh Raipur reached the police station to talk to protesters but instead the agitators began to beat him up, the sources said. Raipur was safely taken away by the police and he is still inside the police station for protection, the source said.
