Mumbai: Another police recruitment candidate succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday.

A Beed resident, Gahinath Latpate, the deceased, was in the city aspiring to be a cop.

The toll has increased to five since June 11, the day Mumbai police recruitment started.

The deceased was admitted with the Mulund based Platinum Hospital since June 14, as he was transferred from Rajawadi Hospital after he collapsed in a five-kilometer recruitment activity. The doctors alleged that Lalpate died due to multi-organ failure.

Due to the increasing number of deaths, the recruitment staff has taken necessary precautions by providing shed to the candidates. Along with this, the staff has stopped the training activity between 11am to 4pm, as all the candidates have died due to heatstroke and severe dehydration.

Vikhroli police have since then registered accidental death report.
