Although Srinivasan & Co have requested Sanjay Jagdale and Ajay Shirke to reconsider their resignations as Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary and treasurer respectively, the duo did not give in to pressure and stuck to their stands

The Board will have to call for a General Body Meeting to make appointments for the key vacant posts. A source indicated that the meeting would be called within a week if Jagdale and Shirke remain adamant on their decision to quit.
Anurag Thakur, currently the Joint secretary of the BCCI, seems to be the front-runner for the secretary’s post. “Thakur is a close confidant of Srinivasan. He is the automatic choice to replace Jagdale. Thakur would also be rewarded for his support to Srinivasan in this crisis,” said a source.
Thakur, a BJP leader and head of the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association, did not attend yesterday’s all-important emergency working committee meeting in Chennai, but he was present via video-conference.
Yesterday’s meeting also gave a clear indication that Srinivasan still enjoys the majority.
“Srinivasan has the support of all BJP leaders. So, there is no question of him losing ground. He has shown that he’s still very powerful in the Board,” another source said.

Meanwhile, former secretary of the BCCI, Jaywant Lele said the decision to appoint Jagmohan Dalmiya to look after the day-to-day affairs of the Board following Srinivasan’s decision to step aside pending inquiry due to his son-in-law Gurunath Meiyappan’s alleged involvement in the IPL betting scandal, can be challenged.
“It is all an eye-wash and absolute nonsense. The Working Committee has no powers to appoint anybody. Only the General Body can make appointments. So, anybody can challenge this decision,” Lele told MiD DAY from Baroda.
“But our Board is very dynamic. They will call a general body meeting and ratify this (decision). But this is not the way to do things,” he added.u00a0
