Last week, fans of top-rated daily soap Yeh Hai Mohabbatein went into a tizzy after rumours surfaced about two actors — lead, Karan Patel and his reel mother, Shahnaz Rizwan — exiting the show.

Rizwan aka Mrs Bhalla had allegedly returned to London as she was miffed with producers, Balaji Telefilms, for delaying her pay. An insider said she is given the wide berth due to tantrums. However, Rizwan has now clarified that she neither flew out of the country nor has any payment issues. “While most people [on the show] get paid every three months, the makers ensure I get my remuneration every month. Certain artistes are jealous that in spite of having lived in London all my life, I am completely comfortable here. They are insecure about my popularity and skills. They talk about me behind my back and have spread the rumours, but I don’t care. I don’t want to take names. I am close to some people; Anita Hassanandani is one of them,” says Rizwan.

On the other hand, Karan’s publicist confirms that he is not leaving the show anytime soon either. The actor, who essays the role of Raman Kumar Bhalla on the show, had triggered speculations of his impending exit with a social media post: “Yeh Hai Mohabbatein is and will always be my connection to you ... #RKB ho na ho ... The Show Must Go On.” Emotional fans then sent out messages to the channel and production house to retain him at any cost.

Karan later cleared the rumours on Twitter. His publicist says, “His [first] tweet was just his way of telling fans that his connection with loved ones goes beyond the show, and whether or not Raman is there, he will still be connected to them. Speculation about his exit is baseless.”
