Itanagar: An army jawan died yesterday during a ‘routine training activity’ in Arunachal Pradesh after which his colleagues got agitated and roughed up a Captain.

Four to five jawans became emotional following the death of a fellow soldier, an army officer said, adding that it was not a case of ‘mutiny’.

“The jawan had complained of chest pain prior to a routine march and was checked by the unit medical officer who found him fit. He later collapsed during the march. He was rushed to the field ambulance where he died,” the officer said.

He said that four to five jawans became emotional while being consoled by their adjutant, the Captain. This led to a scuffle in which no one was injured. The incident is being investigated like all cases of death during training, the officer said.
