Former Australia batsman Geoff Marsh was over the moon as his sons Shaun and Mitchell hit centuries against England in the fifth and final Ashes Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground yesterday. Speaking from Perth, Geoff said, "It is a very proud moment for our family. Like all parents, you are nervous and having two sons, I get twice as nervous.

"Shaun was fine overnight. Being on 98, every player is thinking about the next two runs in your sleep. And yes, you have to start again in the morning which is always a slight worry. The important thing is to win the game and contribute to the team," Geoff added. England ended the day with 93-4, still trailing by 210 runs with six wickets remaining.
Where Australians are concerned, the Chappell brothers (Ian and Greg) scored hundreds in the same innings thrice while Steve and Mark Waugh did it twice. "Any century for your country is a special occasion, but when you do it with your brother, it makes it a momentous occasion," said Steve. "For all those backyard battles and dreams of playing for your country to eventually achieving 100s in the same innings — this is something that rarely happens and when it does, it's a great source of pride for the family and for all of those people that have contributed to the final outcome," Steve added.
