Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) president Ashish Shelar yesterday took cognisance of the senior team's Ranji Trophy debacle after exiting the tournament in the quarter-finals. Shelar, it is learnt, had an intense discussion regarding Mumbai's Ranji Trophy showing in the Managing Committee meeting yesterday where the top agenda was to give a green signal to circulate the new constitution which is prepared as per the Lodha Committee report amongst the members.
Talking to mid-day, Shelar said: "I will be meeting the CIC (Cricket Improvement Committee) and the (senior) selectors in the coming days. This is all I can say at the moment." An MCA said: "The president was quite keen to understand why Mumbai lost in the quarter-final. He is also planning to meet coach Sameer Dighe and the players once the season is over. He wanted to know what was lacking and how we can improve."
Meanwhile, the MCA accepted the resignation of Dinesh Nanavati, who was the batting coach at the BKC indoor academy. The association did not provide any reason for Nanvati's decision.
