Receives a nunch of cosmetic updates, including Audi's new Hexagonal front grille

Audi A3 Cabriolet Facelift launched in India at Rs 47.98 Lakh

German auto giant Audi has launched the facelifted version of its A3 Cabriolet with a starting price of Rs 47.98 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The company confirmed that it is now accepting bookings for its baby 4-seater convertible, which comes with a host of cosmetic updates and a new, more fuel-efficient engine.

Pop the hood and you'll find a smaller but still gutsy 1.4-litre TFSI engine, that generates 150PS of power and 250Nm of torque. The engine is mated to Audi's renowned seven-speed S tronic transmission. Audi has equipped the engine with COD (Cylinder On Demand) tech, which enables temporary cylinder shut-off when the engine is operating on partial load. Thanks to this clever set up, the company claims that the cabriolet achieves an impressive fuel-efficiency of 19.2 km/l.

The facelifted A3 Cabriolet certainly looks different to the model it replaces. It features a new, more aggressive set of headlamps, which houses Audi's famous LED daytime running lights. Placed between the headlights is the newly designed hexagonal grille, which accentuates the car's sharper stance and the company's new design language. The front bumper has also been tweaked to complement the whole makeover. At the back, the revamped A3 convertible gets newly designed bumper and taillights.

Step inside the car and you'll find a newly designed three-spoke multi-function steering wheel, lender and flat instrument panel. Even the centre console, which houses a retractable 7-inch infotainment screen, has been turned towards the driver. The four AC vents on the dashboard have also been done up to look different and the seats are now draped in Milano Leather upholstery.

The list of gadgetry that comes part of the standard equipment list includes the 7-inch infotainment screen, Audi phone box, dual zone air conditioning, front and rear parking sensors with a rear-view camera, five airbags and ABS with EBD. In the options list, customers can splash out more money for a smartphone interface and a Bang and Olufsen sound system. Of course, most of the cars in this price range get all these things but not this - an electronically operated fabric roof that features audio insulation and can be raised or dropped at speeds up to 50kmph. This is one option that you must pay for.

The A3 Cabriolet sits comfortably in a segment where it doesn't really have a direct competitor in India. The only other convertible which is less expensive that the Audi A3 is the Mini Cooper Convertible. Least expensive topless offerings from Audi's main rivals, BMW and Mercedes-Benz, are over the Rs 60 lakh mark.
