Baig received 8,000 euros to buy explosives

On the second day of deposition of ACP Vinod Satav, investigating officer in the German bakery blast case, he told the court that Himayat Inayat Mirza Baig had received 8,000 euros in Colombo, Sri Lanka, where he received training in making and assembling explosives.

During his examination by Special Public Prosecutor Raja Thakare, Satav said Baig had gone to Colombo on March 7, 2008, from his hometown in Beed district, where he discussed acts of terrorism with another wanted accused in the case Fayyaz Kagzi and Zabiuddin Ansari.u00a0

Satav said Kagzi and Ansari trained Baig in assembling explosives, gave him money to purchase explosives and to indoctrinate other youths to undergo training in Pakistan.


“We have recovered Baig’s passport having immigration stamps of Chennai and Colombo airports,” Satav said.u00a0
