Both bikes weres showcased at a recently held dealers meet in Turkey, might be launched in India by the early part of 2017

Bajaj has been updating it’s range of bikes in lieu of the upcoming emissions norm. It was one of the reasons why they discontinued the 200NS. Now at a recently held dealers meet in Turkey where Bajaj exports its bikes, they showcased the new 200NS which now gets fuel injection. Also there were talks of a smaller capacity NS version on the cards. Instead of a 150cc NS, Bajaj has decided to go for a 160cc mill which brings it on the same platform as the Yamaha FZ, Honda CB Hornet 160 and Suzuki Gixxer.

The Pulsar NS160 is bolted on the same perimeter type frame that is shared across the earlier 200NS, RS200, AS150 and AS200, and the latest Dominar 400. The new 160.3cc oil-cooled 4-valve mill puts out 15.5PS at 8500rpm and 14.6Nm of torque at 6500rpm. It gets a 5-speed gearbox. The NS 160 carries similar styling as the 200NS and the new bike gets a bellypan fairing. The bike weighs 135 kilo. While the front wheel is the same size as the 200 NS, the rear wheel is a smaller 110/70 section instead of the 130/70 on the 200NS. For braking, the bike gets a smaller front disc, rear disc and ABS as an option. It gets a new paint scheme, while other body panels and dimensions remain untouched.

The new Pulsar NS 200 FI has the liquid cooled single’s displacement drop from the earlier 200NS’s 199.5 cc to 194.4cc. The cubic capacity drop could be due to a new piston crown for the fuel injection. Power is up by one PS to 24.5PS at 8000rpm while torque remains the same 18.3Nm at 8000rpm. The engine is mated to a six-speed gearbox. The bike retains the same styling as the earlier model with the addition of a bellypan fairing. The bike will get ABS as an option as well.

While these bikes are slated to launch internationally soon, we expect these bikes to be launched in India by the early part of next year.
