Quick thinking of locals help to control flames from spreading to other areas; fire officials still to ascertain cause of fire

In a tragic incident, a bakery at Bhosale Nagar caught fire around 9.30 pm on Monday night. Kutty's Bakery located in the heart of ammunition colony near Range Hills caught a massive fire.

At closing time, the fire suddenly broke out and immediately fire engines and water tankers from Aundh, Khadki Ammunition, Khadki, Cantonment and Pune Corporation offices were sent to the spot

Timely aid
With the help of two water tankers and five officers the fire was extinguished. According to S B Jilewal, Station Officer, Aundh who was present at the spot it took around 45 minutes to control the fire. "We are not able to identify how the shop caught fire but it's definitely not a short circuit. Thankfully, no one is hurt even though it was pretty severe. The entire shop has burned down."

However, the quick thinking of locals helped from lettingu00a0 the fire spread further. Local boys moved in groups to switch off the cylinders at each house surrounding the bakery.

They even controlled the crowd and helped the officers. The owner was in state of shock after the incident and refused to speak to anyone.
