Can mundane things around us inspire creativity? The smell of a marketplace, the sound of people talking, or its overall ambience — how does that affect our senses?

Exploring all these questions is a new experimental play, titled, House of Shops. Directed by Reshma Shetty, this play is devised from different art forms including puppetry, architecture, music, fine art, literature and theatre among others, and merges them together into one, to recreate the Bazaar Road as a character.

Opening this Friday at the Ravindra Natya Mandir, audiences can expect to be transported to the same world of smells, sounds and ambience that are unique to the Bazaar Road, on the stage. The Collage Collective, an artist’s community studio based in Bandra, has produced the play.

The cast includes Chitrangada Chakraborty, Kapil Dev, Kunal Vijayakar, Megha Maynak and Karishma Shetty.

On: June 27 and 29
At: PL Deshpande Mini Auditorium, Prabhadevi.
