Patna: A BJP leader in Bihar, who was denied a ticket to contest the assembly election, on Thursday marched to the party office along with a group of donkeys, saying those running the show were behaving like asses.

Vijay Nath Tiwari was keen to contest the polls from Chanpatia assembly constituency but he was denied a ticket by the Bharatiya Janata Party.

"It shocked me when the party high command gave the ticket to another person in place of me," he said.

Asked why he used a group of donkeys to protest, Tiwari said: "It appears to me that an army of leaders like asses are running the show to decide tickets in the party. It was a symbolic protest."

Many angry BJP workers and leaders from Raghopur, Karakat, Bakhtiyarpur and Bhagalpur protested in front of the party office on Thursday after they were denied tickets.

On Wednesday, a group of BJP members turned violent and broke the main gate of the party office and tried to ransack a room. Security was tightened after the incident.

The BJP has so far declared candidates for 153 of the 160 assembly seats it will contest.
