Pranesh Patil, son of Reshma Patil, a Congress corporator from Mumbra, had just finished refuelling his Yamaha Rs 15 bike at the Majiwada petrol pump and was en route to Thane at 9.30 pm, when the accident took place. One of his friends, Zuber Ijaz Shareef (20) was riding pillion and suffered injuries, but is currently out of danger.

The driver of the container was arrested and produced in the court yesterday, after which he was released on bail. Senior Inspector J Babar of Kalwa police station said, “We had registered a case under IPC for negligence and rash driving on Sunday and arrested the container driver, 29-year-old Baban Jagdale, a resident of Kalamboli. We are investigating the matter.” However, another officer from Kalwa police said, “Pranesh was riding rashly and lost control of the bike.”

Bike stunts
Pranesh’s friends said he was extremely fond of bikes and loved doing stunts. He was also fond of photography and had also posted several pictures of his stunts on social media. The college-going youth had three other high-end bikes apart from the Yamaha Rs 15. His father, Ramesh Patel, who runs a construction firm, would receive a lot of complaints about Pranesh’s rash driving, but chose to ignore it.
