Mumbai: BMC has presented budget estimate of Rs 2501.31 crores for the Education Department for the year 2015-16.
However, the provision amount is reduced as compared to 2014-15, which was Rs 2660.44 crores.

Some major announcements in the budget are like distribution of TAB's for students, construction of 10 new school buildings, extension of virtual class rooms, maintain students’ health records, a project of quality circle forum for improvement of the quality of education, establishment of 200 new computer laboratories in municipal schools and fund for school excellence program is also taken into consideration.
For TAB distribution project, the civic body has kept Rs 35 crores in budget.
However, child tracking system which was announced in last year's budget is missing this year.
