Mumbai crime: Aspiring Bollywood actor held for Rs 90 lakh theft, Mohit Kansara
Accused: Mohit Kansara was traning to become an actor at the Balaji Telefilms Institute

However, his dream run ended when the Jodhpur Police, who were on his tail, managed to trace him to Mumbai with the help of his mobile phone.

They alerted the local police in Charkop, who arrested him from his residence and handed him over to the Jodhpur Police on Monday. The accused, identified as Mohit Kailashchandra Kansara, was training to become an actor at the Balaji Telefilms Institute. However, he had registered as Heer Singhania, believing that his real name would not get him very far.

Assistant Police Inspector Mahesh Kulkarni from Charkop police station said, “In January, Kansara stole Rs 90 lakh from the house of an advocate Pravin Mahecha in Jodhpur, and fled to Mumbai. Since then, he has been living alone in a rented flat.

Of the stolen money, he had used Rs 50,000 to get his portfolio made, and another Rs 50,000 to enroll in acting school. He had always harboured the dream of becoming an actor. In Jodhpur, he is a history-sheeter who has been involved in petty robberies. This was his biggest burglary so far.”

The cops added that Kansara had been training at the institute for a month, and had also appeared for an audition three days ago. The Jodhpur Police, who had been investigating the case, learnt that Kansara had been staying in Charkop, and informed the local city police.

“The Jodhpur Police got the mobile number of the accused and handed it over to us, after which we traced him and took him in custody. Later, on Monday morning, the Jodhpur police arrived and took him with them,” added Kulkarni.
