Sleuths of Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) and police personnel from Wanwadi police station confiscated the device after some workers at the plant discovered it and alerted the police control room.

Shell-shocked: Cops say the device found in Hadapsar yesterday has the logo of Armament Research and Development Establishment

“Around 3.30 pm, two workers Kanifnath Jadhav and Suryakant Mojar found the bomb while processing garbage at the plant and immediately informed the police,” said inspector Bajirao Mohite of Wanwadi police station.

“The bomb is approximately 1.25-feet long and has logo of ARDE and batch number embossed on it. It seems that it belongs to the defence establishment,” said DCP Manoj Patil of Zone (IV)

He said that there will be a probe on how the bomb landed in the garbage processing unit and concerned defence officials have been intimated.

“Prima facie it seems that the bomb is a dud. However, as a precaution, we have buried it and it will be taken out only after the people from the defence establishment come to assess it,” said Patil.u00a0
