Going by the opening weekend collections of 'Happy Ending', it is doubtful if the Saif Ali Khan and Ileana D'Cruz-starrer would be able to live up to its name. For, the film has grossed only about Rs 13 crore so far. Exhibitor Rajesh Thadani says, "None of Saif's films released over the last two years have managed to get a good run at the box office."

Some trade pundits feel that the actor should stop trying to get out of his comfort zone. Trade analyst Amod Mehra says, "It was not a happy weekend for the film industry as 'Happy Ending' has bombed at the box office. Though the collections improved marginally over the weekend, it was much below expectation. The production partners and worldwide distributors of the film stand to lose heavily."

Meanwhile, 'Kill Dil', which released on November 15 has managed to rake in only about Rs 35 crore over a week, which has been labelled disappointing by box office observers. Interestingly, both 'Happy Ending' and 'Kill Dil' feature Govinda. Mehra adds, "Though he has managed to establish himself as a character-actor, both his films have failed to work at the box office. But Govinda will continue to get work."
