14-year-old ends life after returning home from school

Akshay Sanjaykumar Patil was a class IX student from a school in Kurar Village in Malad.

The boy, a resident of Shivaji Nagar in Malad east went for his examination on Thursday at 12 pm.

According to sources, he hid a chit in his identity card and was caught by a teacher in the examination hall.

He was punished by both the teacher and the school's principal, who wanted to meet his parents afterwards.

A case of accidental death has been registered at the Kurar police station.

An official from the police station said, "The boy lived in a slum that was a one-room kitchen with a mezzanine floor. After he returned home at 4 pm he went up on the mezzanine floor. His mother found him hanging after going up to check on him at 8 pm"
