He also made his dislike for It will Rain crooner Bruno Mars apparent.

Although not a big fan of the two pop singers, Cameron did however express a musical love for US singer Lana Del Rey and rock group Band Of Horses, citing them as his favourite new artists.

A playlist of hipster bands features in Cameron's music collection as he also listens to Florence And The Machine, The Killers and The Smiths.

The UK prime minister was hit by a backlash from Morrissey and Johnny Marr for liking the pair's former band The Smiths.

During an appearance on The One Show in 2009, David Cameron light-heartedly apologised to Johnny Marr for liking the band, making a reference to their song Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now.

"I'm sure when Morrissey finds that he's getting an endorsement from the leader of the Conservative party,
he will think Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now," he quipped.

"But I'm a big fan, I'm afraid. Sorry about that."

In a Twitter rant in 2010, Johnny Marr tweeted about Cameron, "Stop saying that you like The Smiths, no you don't. I forbid you to like it."
