Bulls Eye, the sprint queen from trainer Pesi Shroff's yard, has tested positive for a banned drug, according to reliable Royal Western India Turf Club (RWITC) sources.Bulls Eye had returned to the racecourse after resting at a farm near Pune, and a routine sample was collected on December 6 which has returned positive for Boldenone.

When contacted, a club official confirmed to MiD DAY about the positive finding, adding that the formal procedure of announcing the finding will be done in the trainer’s presence after the Sunday races.

It may be noted that Boldenone was in the news three years ago when three horses — Star Future, Eloise and Ocean And Beyond — trained by Cooji Katrak, Pesi Shroff and SK Sunderji respectively, who had run in the 2010-11 Classics, had tested positive for the drug.

While all three were awarded punishments, Shroff had argued that a German manufacturer’s feed supplied by the race club contained traces of Boldenone, and had also waged a court battle against the decision.u00a0
