Sri Lanka's opening batsman Tillakaratne Dilshan on Thursday announced his decision too retire from One Day International cricket after the third ODI against Australia in Dambulla.
The 39-year-old all-rounder developed the eponymously named "Dilscoop" for the 2009 ICC World Twenty20.
Dilshan has 17 centuries in ODIs and is only second to Sanath Jayasuriya, who has scored more tons (28) in ODIs, than any other Sri Lankan.
He is also only one of four Sri Lankan batsmen to score over 10000 ODI runs.
Once he announced his decision to hang up his boots from the 50-over format of the game, Twitter immediately reacted with sadness.
