The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) willu00a0 present Sachin Tendulkar with 100 gold coins if theu00a0 master batsman reaches his elusive 100th international century in today's second Test against West Indies here at the Eden Gardens. CAB's Working Committee had originally planned to gift Tendulkar a golden bat. However, they felt that it was a risky proposition to order a golden bat.
"If he (Tendulkar) doesn't get a hundred then we wouldn't have an answer as to why we spent so much money on a golden bat. That's why we decided against it," a CAB official said. One of the hundred coins, minted by renowned Kolkata-based PC Chandra Jewellers, has already been embedded with an emblem that reads 'Congrats Sachin Tendulkar'. "We will be putting the emblem on the remaining 99 coins if he gets the hundred.
Only after that will we present the coins to him," said the official.u00a0Meanwhile, CAB distributed 100 t-shirts to underprivileged children ahead of the Test. These kids will wear the attire which says, "Let's Pray For The Century of Centuries at Eden" below Tendulkar's picture, sources said.
